Dear Friends:

Now that Maryellen has retired I just want to let you all know that our office staff is ready to help in any way that we can with homemaker clubs or individual needs. The news from UK is that we may have to wait for an extended period to fill the Family and Consumer Sciences Agent position. Maryellen has told me many times how strong your club officers are and how knowledgeable they are in regards to reports and upcoming activities. We may need to call some of you from time to time to help us answer questions. Please be patient with us and know we will do our best; there are excellent FCS Agents in adjoining counties that have offered us assistance with questions as well. While Maryellen's 32 years of knowledge in this office is going to be missed we are dedicated to carrying the torch and passing it on.

Second Wind Dreams Project
Second Wind Dreams Committee: Our Second Wind Dreams committee has moved its location. We still meet on the second Tuesday at 1:30 but we are now meeting at the Twin Oaks Assisted Living facility in New Castle. We have been granting dreams for our nursing home residents since 2007 and have currently granted 447 dreams. Come join us. Second Wind Dreams We have completed OVER 535 dreams for residents of Homestead since we started the program! If you or a group you belong to hasn’t had the opportunity to experience the joy of participating call Sue Barnett-Committee Chairman or the Extension Office. Dreams come in all sizes!

 

KEHA State Membership Update and New LOGO revealed: The total membership in the state for this year is 14,462 - an increase of 35 members! This is the second year in the past four years when KEHA realized an increase in membership. A complete membership report will be shared in voting delegate packers at the K FHA State Meeting in May

Important Note: After the ice storm disaster it became apparent that we need a listing of county residents who might need some special attention. So in preparation for natural disasters, Henry County Disaster and Emergency Service would like to take a survey of Henry County Citizens who are medically disabled.
